I thought of getting an electric bike for a while. After careful consideration and looking at far too many different models, reviews, videos, and more, I decided on a VoltBike Elegant. I guess I am not the only one as they were back-ordered. I know the pandemic also created more demand for e-bikes as this was the case for many companies. Anyhoo, the wait was a long one (4 1/2 months).... but at last, my e-bike arrived! Just in time for winter haha! The company was good about communicating and letting me know of the delay.
After a super easy 'out of the box' experience (put on the pedals and attach the handlebars), and a charge of the battery, I was excited and ready to roll. So what if it's November and darn near freezing? The sun was shining!
One ride and I am hooked. I didn't take any pictures because I just didn't think of it while I was riding. I was just so darn glad to be out on my bike!
The Koots have some pretty big hills, but the e-bike helped me up them with no problem whatsoever. With prices starting at $1599, it delivers many of he features of a more expensive bike at far less cost (always a good thing to me). They are a Canadian business based here in BC, so they know our terrain!
From their website:
VoltBike Elegant has everything you want and everything you need. Its lightweight, aluminum, step-through frame gives you easy adaptability and freedom of movement. The 500 Watt maintenance-free rear-wheel-drive Bafang motor combined with 48v Panasonic Li-ion battery ensures this bicycle can comfortably take you up any hill and makes easy riding against strong winds. VoltBike Elegant received a major update in June 2020. We added hydraulic disc brakes so you get the same stopping power as the bigger model Yukon 750. We increased the size of the battery to 16Ah so you can go even further.
I look forward to sharing my rides and hope to see you out riding sometime!
I'm a new e-bike enthusiast! I was big into cycling for recreation years ago. But then life happened and cycling went by the wayside. After years away from being on a bicycle, I decided to take the plunge and get an e-bike. It is fantastic!
